Making the Change to a Sustainable Business

October 7, 2024

Does your company benefit the Planet?

The Bear Factory is proud that our company is taking new steps each year to push toward a more sustainable company. Our mission to become an eco-friendly business does not stop with just us; we have committed to encouraging other companies to join us. TBF has been in the manufacturing industry for nearly twenty-two years. We have seen the negative impacts that have been made on our Earth by large corporations.

Scientists have stated that future archeologists will consider this the plastic era. There are only 20 companies in the world that are the cause of half the pollution on the Earth. Plastic pollution is the central issue coming from corporations. Plastic is a substance that the Earth cannot digest; therefore, it ends up in our oceans. Just in the US alone, we throw out 88 tons of plastic a day; imagine what that is in the world. The good news is that there is still time to reverse the damage. We encourage your businesses to start making minor changes for a sustainable company.

By working with us, you have already made the first step. TBF created a Plush for The Planet line; the animals that are a part of this line are made from 9.5 recycled water bottles. We have recently reached a huge milestone, over 50% of our plush is made from recycled material. The poly-fiber that we sell for hand stuffing is also made from recycled materials. All our packing items, plastic bags, and cardboard boxes are designed to decompose within one year. We use each bag and box as many times as possible, and we encourage our customers to do the same or recycle the materials. By transitioning our company to a more eco-friendly brand, we have saved over 100,000 plastic bags from ending up in landfills.

The first step for your company can be drawing attention to how much plastic your company uses daily. Recording your plastic usage and finding alternates is an easy way to begin your change to a sustainable company. Using decomposable plastic, if disposed of correctly, eliminates the likelihood of plastic ending up in the ocean. Encouraging your employees to stop single-use silverware or water bottles is also a significant step. Does your company recycle? Finding a recycling company near you is very simple. We suggest using a website like Search.earth911.com or googling the nearest recycling company near you. TBF encourages you to learn more about transitioning your company to an eco-friendly business.
